ELE SPEAKS
Elephant Man: We were making a deal with Bad Boy and it’s gone through now. I’m an official Bad Boy. The album should be coming in the middle of January 2006. The album title’s Ova Di Wall. Nuttin’ nah change. The only difference is that it’s on Bad Boy. The first single, Willie Bounce, we’re shooting a video for it in Manhattan so it should be crazy.
Robbo: Which artists are gonna flava this album?
Elephant Man: Mya, Rihanna, Diddy, Busta Rhymes, Pitbull and Daddy Yankee, Lil’ Jon. This album’s mad. One of the best I’ve ever done so far.
Robbo: So what’s the vibe with you and Diddy?
Elephant Man: Diddy said he’s been following my career for a while now. The vibe is nice and I can’t complain. Diddy’s cool. He likes to enjoy himself and enjoy life, you know?
Robbo: Where do you see the whole dancing and fun movements that you been bringing to dancehall going next?
Elephant Man: You’ve gotta accept that the new kids are running the ting but nothing can beat a party song. Nobody wants to go in the dancehall and stand up anymore… if the beat is crazy the fans are gonna call it something and make a dance to it. The people love enjoyment and the first song that made me cross over is a dance song, Pon Di River, so why am I gonna run from it? Willie Bounce was #2 in New York. The people love fun and anyhow we killed that, the vibe is gonna be dead.
Robbo: You performed in Europe but the UK felt left out.
Elephant Man: Well I’m considering coming to flatten the UK right now. Everyone’s been asking me to come to the UK… I’m ready for the UK, man.
